Lakeshore Restoration · Twin Cities, MN
Minnesota lakeshore restoration, done right.
Eroded banks, overgrown shorelines, degraded beaches, invasive weeds. Shore Restore specializes in native shoreline landscaping and erosion control — and handles everything else your lakefront needs.
Booking now for the season. Spots fill up fast.
Native plants do far more than look good. A properly designed shoreline buffer holds your bank in place, filters runoff before it reaches the water, and crowds out invasive species over time. We handle site assessment, plant selection, and full installation.
Every inch of bank your shoreline loses is property you are not getting back. We stop active erosion using bioengineered root systems, native ground cover, riprap, and structural reinforcement built to hold for the long term.
Years of muck and weeds can make a beach completely unusable. We clean it out, clear the waterline, and bring the sand back so your family actually wants to swim off it again.
We remove invasive aquatic plants manually and mechanically — right down to the root. No herbicides, ever. Milfoil, pondweed, lily pads, algae mats. We clear it out and keep it manageable with seasonal plans.
We come out to your property, walk your shoreline, and tell you exactly what we see. You get a written plan and quote at the end of it. No charge.
You get a clear written quote with everything spelled out. No vague estimates, no surprises when the invoice comes.
We show up on time and get to work. Whether that is pulling weeds, planting natives, fixing erosion, or restoring a beach we keep things tidy and respect your property.
Weeds come back. That is just the reality. We offer seasonal maintenance so you stay ahead of it and do not end up back at square one every summer.

We had given up on our beach after years of milfoil. Shore Restore cleared it out in two visits and we swam off our dock for the first time in years.
Lake Minnetonka
They looked at our whole shoreline not just the weeds. Turned out we had an erosion issue we did not even know about. They fixed that too and planted native grasses that look amazing.
Prior Lake
Super easy to work with and very thorough. Our beach honestly looks better now than when we bought the place.

Some projects do require approvals depending on what we are doing and where. We know what is typically needed and will walk you through it and handle as much as we can on your end.
Never. We only use manual and mechanical methods. No herbicides, no chemicals at all. That is not something we will ever compromise on.
It depends on what you need. Weed removal works best mid-season. Planting is best in spring or early fall. Beach and erosion work can happen pretty much anytime. We will let you know the best window when we come out.
Every job is different so we do not do flat rate pricing. We come out, see what we are working with, and give you a written quote. What you see on that quote is what you pay.
Honestly they can, especially on busy lakes where weeds spread from boat traffic and neighboring properties. That is why we offer seasonal maintenance plans so you stay ahead of it instead of dealing with it all over again each year.
Yes, that is one of the main things we do. We clear out the muck and weeds at the waterline and bring the sand back. We will take a look at your specific situation when we come out and tell you what makes sense.
We come out to your property, walk the shoreline with you, and put together a real written plan with pricing. Reaching out does not commit you to anything.

We specialize in native shoreline landscaping and erosion control — the work that creates lasting results. We also handle beach restoration and aquatic weed removal so you have one team for everything your lakefront needs.
A well-designed native shoreline is the single most impactful thing you can do for your lakeshore property. It is not just about aesthetics — the right plantings stabilize your bank, intercept runoff before it reaches the water, outcompete invasive species, and provide habitat that keeps your shoreline healthy year after year.
We start with a thorough site assessment — soil type, sun exposure, water depth, existing vegetation, and your goals for the space. From there we design a planting plan using Minnesota native species selected specifically for your conditions. Everything is installed by hand and we provide first-year establishment support to make sure it takes.
Shoreline erosion is one of the most underestimated problems lake homeowners face. A few inches of bank lost each spring does not feel urgent — until you add it up over a decade and realize how much ground is gone. Left unaddressed, erosion undermines your yard, your landscaping, and eventually your structures.
We assess your bank, identify the cause of the erosion, and install the right combination of solutions to stop it. That might be deep-rooted native plants, structural riprap, bioengineered reinforcement, or a combination — whatever the site actually calls for.
Muck, weeds, and years of sediment can make a beach completely unusable. We clean it out and bring the sand back so you can actually enjoy the lake you are paying to live on.
Invasive aquatic plants spread fast and they do not go away on their own. We remove them manually and mechanically, right down to the root. No herbicides, no chemicals — ever. Your lake ends up clean, clear, and safe to swim in.

Shore Restore was founded by Bo and Mathias — two 20-year-olds who grew up on Minnesota lakes, watched the problem get worse every year, and decided to actually do something about it. We are new, we are driven, and we care more about your shoreline than most.
Bo
Co-Founder · Field Operations
Bo grew up spending every summer on Minnesota lakes and developed a genuine feel for how shoreline ecosystems work — and what happens when invasive species are left unchecked. At 20, he co-founded Shore Restore to turn that into something useful. He leads all on-the-ground restoration work and is hands-on at every job site.
Mathias
Co-Founder · Client Relations & Planning
Mathias grew up on the water and watched his own lake change for the worse over the years. At 20, he partnered with Bo to build Shore Restore from the ground up. He handles every client relationship personally — from the first call through the final walkthrough — and makes sure every project is communicated clearly and delivered on time.
We are not a big company with decades of history. We are two 20-year-olds who spent our childhoods on Minnesota lakes, watched the weeds and erosion get worse every summer, and finally decided to stop waiting for someone else to fix it.
We started Shore Restore because we genuinely care about these lakes — not because we saw a business opportunity. Every property we work on gets the same attention we would want on our own shoreline. We show up, we do the work right, and we stand behind it.
We are building this business one job at a time and our reputation depends entirely on the quality of our work. That keeps us honest.
Chemical-Free Commitment
No herbicides ever. Every method we use is safe for your family and your lake.

If something is not right after we leave, we come back and fix it. Simple as that.
Clear timelines, no surprises, and we see things through. Your lakefront matters too much to rush through.
No chemicals, native plants, methods that work with the ecosystem instead of against it. Every decision we make keeps the long term health of the lake in mind.
We explain what we are doing and why before we do it. You should know the plan and understand the work, not just get a bill at the end.
There is a lot to figure out between the approvals, the species, the timing and the logistics. We handle all of that so the whole thing is as easy as possible for you.
Start with a free consultation. We walk your property and put a plan together. No pressure at all.
Tell us what is going on with your shoreline and we will come out and take a look for free. We will walk the property with you, tell you what we see, and give you a written quote with no obligation.
